Clarinetist

Jasmin Johnson

Born and raised in Richmond, VA, Jasmin Johnson has played clarinet for almost 20 years.

She started playing the clarinet in the 4th grade and participated in several ensembles such as marching band, concert band, symphonic band, all-city band, and district band.

She later attended Hampton University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 2018, and a Masters of Teaching from Hampton University in 2019.

During her tenure at Hampton, she marched for the HU Marching Force, played in several ensembles on campus, and became a member of Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority.

After graduating, Jasmin taught elementary music in Henrico County Public Schools for 4 years. In 2023, she moved to Alexandria, VA and began teaching with her current employer: Alexandria City Public Schools.

Jasmin now lives in Bowie, MD. She also plays clarinet in the NOVA Concert Band at the NOVA - Alexandria Campus.

As her journey continues, Jasmin's hope is to continue to share her love of music through education and performance.

"I am excited to start 2025 with the Onyx Ensemble and share our talents with the world."
